EN Nanaimo Guide what to do Rating Details We had a few days on Gabriola Island to kill so we chartered Regan & Silve's boat for the day to see if we could catch some salmon. There guys are great. The boat is a really good configuration for fishing with some inside cabin if the weather closes in. They keep it in great condition as well. All their fishing gear was new & lots of variety. Plus Regan grew up as a local on the island so he knows all there is to know about how to get onto fish. Particularly nice people as well. We got salmon & did a bit of bottom bashing which pretty much guaranteed fish. There ended up being a cancellation the next day so we enjoyed ourselves so much that we doubled up for a second day. We'll be back for more. Highly recommended.
Posts Our full day trips tend to be timed to target the tides, so we can get in the morning bite along with a tide change. Best times are usually the first 2 hours on either side of a slack tide. Tidal movement often triggers feeding activity, and the bite can come on like turning on a light switch. That is why we attempt to time our fishing charters to take advantage of tide changes.
